5 Things to Know before Getting the 2022 Toyota Camry

May 25th, 2022 by

The Toyota Camry moniker has been in continuous production since 1982 and is one of the best-selling cars in North America.

1. Hybrid and TRD Trims Are Available Too

There are four hybrid trims of Toyota. This means that fuel consumption has been reduced and carbon emissions have been kept at a minimum with the assistance of a battery.

Also, unlike the current iteration of the Toyota Camry, the 2022 model will be available with the TRD trim.

The TRD trim has been reserved for the racing and off-road variants of the current Camry but the 2022 model is going to be available with a sportier engine, a sportier suspension, and a more aggressive design. Toyota has also confirmed that there will be a higher suspension for drivers who want to travel off-road without having to sacrifice luxury and comfort.

2. The Base 4-Cylinder Motor Is Lethargic

The base model of the 2022 Toyota Camry is going to be outfitted with a 2.5L Inline-Four engine that has a 140 horsepower rating and a 150 lb/ft of torque. This is a significant improvement from the current engine that only has 156 horsepower and 151 lb/ft of torque.

The current engine does not perform well when it comes to acceleration and the new 2.5L engine will offer drivers better performance for less. However, it is hard to determine if the acceleration will be improved by a significant margin due to the fact that the former engine only had a 0-60 mph time of 8.7 seconds.

3. Very Frugal

The 2022 Toyota Camry is going to be subjected to a fuel economy test. This means that it is likely its fuel economy rating will be around the same as the current model that has an EPA rating of 29 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway, and 32 mpg combined.

But, the 2022 model is more likely to be close to the LE Eco model that has a combined fuel economy of 35 mpg and a highway fuel economy of 40 mpg. Driving the Camry will be a pleasure for those who wish to save on fuel and spend less time at the gas station.

4. More Rigid Ladder Frame

The ladder frame has been a staple in the Camry since its inception and it is easily one of the main reasons why the vehicle is as solid as it is. However, the ladder frame has become a bit long in the tooth and Toyota has been looking to switch to a unibody design for several years. But, it appears that the manufacturer will finally put the plans into motion with the release of the 2022 Toyota Camry. The new Camry will still have a rigid ladder frame, but it will be reinforced with high-strength steel and high-tensile steel, which should add a bit more rigidity to the ride.

5. A Comfortable Cruiser

The 2022 Toyota Camry is going to be more comfortable than its predecessor. This is due to the fact that the suspension system will be reworked and will have a more compliant setup, which should result in a smoother and more comfortable ride.

The latest Camry is also going to be a bit lighter than the car it is replacing and that should make it a better performer when it comes to maneuverability.

There is also the possibility that Toyota will include a new steering system and a new brake system. The current setup is nothing to write home about so Toyota may want to bring these components to levels that are more in line with rival models.

Conclusion

With the release of the new 2022 Toyota Camry, the automaker will be bringing the vehicle back to its roots and focusing more on a comfortable and spacious interior, rather than an underpowered engine.
